Battle of the Bands Nominated for Three Origins Awards Including Best Traditional Card Game of 2002
Las Vegas, NV - March 18, 2003 - Today, at the annual GAMA Trade Show in Las Vegas, NV, the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts & Design announced that Third World Games' Battle of the Bands received three Origins Awards nominations including Best Traditional Card Game for 2002.
In addition to the Best Traditional Card Game category, Battle of the Bands received a nomination for Best Graphic Design in a Card Game while Battle of the Bands: Backstage Pass received a nomination for Best Card Game Expansion or Supplement.
"We are extremely pleased to be recognized again by our peers as a publisher of high-quality and entertaining card games," said Frank Bustamante, Third World Games CEO. "Battle of the Bands designer Dan Smith (SMIF Ink) created a unique card game that all people can enjoy and relate to: music and the lofty goal of being a rock-and-roll superstar."
Battle of the Bands allows two to six players to front a rock-and-roll band as they hire band members, beat their opponents at gigs while avoiding "Monkey Wrenches" and "Music Biz" cards played by other players in their quest in becoming a superstar! Released in 2002, Battle of the Bands is sold in a 105-card deck while Backstage Pass adds 60 new cards for players to add to their existing Battle of the Bands deck.
The public can vote for all three categories starting in April 2003 at the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts & Design website at www.aagad.org. The winners will be announced at the Origins International Game Expo in June 2003.
