Hey all,

I just wanted to see if y'all have tried out the Testimony of Jacob
Hollow (ToJH) yet? I think it is a really neat game. Personally, it
reminds me of an episode of Scooby Doo, but instead of being comical its
dark and macabre. It is soo much fun trying to kill off everyone else
and try and survive the myriad nasties that inhabit the town.

Just to kick off the new list of TWGI's; if you have played TOJH which
is your favorite character? Personally, I'm partial to Troy Williams or
as I like to call him, the big dumb marine. He's cool because he
actually has a pretty good chance of beating the monsters. Which is
good because he can beat up monsters for investigation points;
especially, since in a very short time it is comical to see him try and
investigate anything. Jenny is pretty neat to due to the possibility of
avoiding damage. Let's hear it for cheerleaders!! :P

Please let me know which is your favorite character.

I like Jenny too. Her ability can be a literal life-saver. Troy is
alright, although he really eats it when he runs into a spirit. However,
I think the easiest character to win with is Hank. Randomly getting
investigation points can make you win really fast.

Well, I don't have a favorite band, but I *am* taking Battle of the Bands
(and its Backstage Pass expansion) with me when I go camping this weekend.
The other family we're going with likes the game, too.

Here are some homebrew cards I've been kicking around for Battle of the
Bands. Some are pretty out there and only a couple have been playtested,
but I'd figured I get some custom card discussion brewing! :)

The "Goin' Solo" Variation: This is a new Biz card. The musician with the
highest HP decides to leave your band and go solo (this does not apply to
the "Me" card). You create a new "band" for them which you play in addition
to your normal band. (They keep any instrument and reputation. They also
automatically take any producer and contract [but not signed gigs or hit
singles] with them). However, since they went solo, they can only have
additional band members during gigs (their rented back-up band). (We're
also hammering out a variation on the variation where, under certain
conditions, the solo musician can rejoin the original band for a "reunion
tour" during a gig [maybe as a Monkey Wrench]).

The "Rockumentary" Variation: This is another Biz card. Marty DiBergi (of
Spinal Tap fame) makes a movie about your band, but you all end up looking
like freaks. Flip all existing reputations in your band to the negative
side. (This could also be the "Behind the Music" variation).

Other possible Spinal Tap-inspired variations: a Biz card where any drummer
in your band explodes [gets discarded], a Monkey Wrench that takes any
guitarist out of the gig (because their wireless guitar rig picks up air
traffic control), and Biz card that discards your contract due to cover art
disputes with your label. (We're also trying to come up with some "Almost
Famous" based ones as well).

The "One Hit Wonder" Variation: This is yet another Biz card. Your band is
a "one hit wonder" and must discard all hit singles (of the band owner's
choice) except for one.

The "Grammies" Variation: Once every x rounds (6-7?), you hold the Grammy
Awards. Take the number of SPs you have in hit singles and add it to a 1d6
roll. The band with the highest number gets the Grammy (which is worth 1
SP). However, each single is only eligible for a Grammy once. During the
next Grammy round, only singles played since the last Grammy ceremony can be
counted.

We've also considered a slightly more interesting version where there's only
one Grammy trophy and whoever wins gets the award (and the SP). However,
the award goes up for grabs again at the next ceremony. (If you lose the
award, you lose the SP). (In this case, we'd probably have the awards every
4 or 5 rounds so it would have more of an impact toward the end of the
game).

Cheers,
Chris

That's cool, Josh! Taking it out on the road...;)

Also, in less than a month, Portable Adventures **should** be ready for
online play through CCGWorkshop.com's gatlingEngine.

Everyone needs to go out and buy a copy of this. It's really a blast to play.

I concur - it's now a permanent staple in my game bag! I've been playing
Netrunner on CCG Workshop and am really excited they will be hosting
Portable Adventures. I'm going to subscribe as soon as it's live...

A friend of mine is also a compulsive gamer and we had a "Grillin' and
Gamin'" day a few weeks ago. Basically, all the meat you can eat and games
until the crack of dawn. At the 10 hours mark, a few rounds of "Give Me The
Brain" put the group in the perfect state of mind for Battle of the Bands.

No one in the group had ever played so I let them sift through the deck for
a couple of minutes. The card text and artwork really hooked them and they
all wanted to play. I even shuffled in Backstage Pass so we could get a
full six-player game going.

After a one round, everyone had a good feel for the game and then the gloves
came off! I've never played a more cutthroat round of BotB and we were all
aching from laughing so hard by the end. Needless to say, you have five new
converts! :)

Hey,

I am a very big fan for Firestorm. I love this TCG so much that =
I have already understood 99.9% of the rules and I'm anxious to play =
against someone with this game.

I have visited www.ccgworkshop.com and I have realized that =
these people are already in the process of making this TCG playable =
online. But for now, the process will take a lot of time. Therefore, I =
am forced to use Proxy cards (using Excel and Microsoft Word) so that I =
can play with someone who doesn't have a deck.

I have a question. When can Firestorm be advertised (like in a =
magazine, not a TV)? Magic: The Gathering (by Wizards of The Coast) was =
advertised on a magazine called GameInformer. I just want this TCG to be =
a little more well-known (I don't expect much).

Hi,

There will be a card party at Games & Comics & Stuff in Glen Burnie, MD.
The date is January 17, 2004 from 11:00 - 8:00 or so. Are there any
Firestorm players who would like to join me for some face-to-face play
time? If so, email me so that I know to bring my decks.

Well, the event guides both say the same thing, Players choice, could be
sealed or constructed, if constructed, Enemy for my Enemy proxies will
be allowed.

As I plan to be at Indy, and the Firestorm event only clashes with one
or two AEG events, this sounds good to me.

Will pdfs or similar be available for E4E plenty of time in advance?

Hi everyone,
We ran a constructed Firestorm tournament at KublaCon this past
Memorial Day Weekend in Burlingame. (San Francisco Bay Area)
Jessie, Nav, and Craig showed up, and by their generous allowance,
i was able to play as well. Nav even gently corrected me on a few of
the rulings, since i hadn't played a lot of the tech gain cards in
years.
Craig built his deck in the half-hour before the tournament, and
we got rolling by 10:15-- that must be some kind of record for a
tournament i'm asked to judge.
With only four of us, we settled into a round-robin format where
everyone would get to play everyone else-- we came to play, right?

Round 1
Nav (Muero Multiple Choices) vs. Eric (Muero Support)
Jessie (Human Insurrection Support) vs. Craig (Human Explore/Fight)

Jessie and Craig had a pretty lengthy game-- they were both in the
double-digits in tech before it was all said and done. I didn't get a
good look at what he was playing, but Craig was kind of surprised how
Jessie got all uppity in Craig's star system. Craig got his Brain
Trust in play, feeding Simon Christiansen to it, only to have Jessie
drop a spy and blow it up the next turn. Jessie took the win by
destroying Craig's homeworld.

Nav and i had a pretty quick game. He gained tech quickly, but i was
able to drop one (just one!) ship or Hero every turn, while drawing
into most of my support cards. I think i had 3 Mining Facilities and
my City online by the end of turn 4 or 5. We traded Mercenary
Fighters early on, but my Primaag Sutraal was camped on the outside of
his star system with a badly banged-up Mercenary Destroyer. I finally
moved up my Orbital Space Station (Move: 1 at a time!), and Nav
figured he had to strike in the typical turning point battle of the
game:
- Elite Fighter, Mercenary Fighter, Mercenary Destroyer, Destroyer
vs
- Elite Fighter, Mercenary Fighter, Destroyer, Orbital Space Station

I think Nav misunderstood how Elite Fighter works (that won't happen
again!), but he Massacred me at Triton, and banged on my ships. I
used Shield React prevents and Hero deflects to keep Sutraal's ship up
and running. This made Nav's attacks far less effective, and he kept
forgetting about it as he made his attacks... but i know he knows how
strong Sutraal is, since he runs the big Primaag himself. I finally
pushed back with my Elite Fighter, wearing down his shields on his
Fighters. We had some nasty exchanges, but i was able to save my
ships with Lucky Break (the damage bonus, to force a shield
activation) and a timely Glancing Blow against his D-14 missile. He
did force Josidynn Prosidius out the airlock with that, but he left
Primaag Sutraal to live and fight another day. My Orbital Space
Station wiped out his last two ships with its puny guns, and it was
pretty much over from there.

Round 2:
Jessie (Human Insurrection) vs. Eric (Muero Support)
Nav (Muero Multiple Choices) vs. Craig (Human Explore/Fight)

Jessie was playing lots of irritating Spies, including the redoubtable
Andrew Masters, as well as Insurrection Support. I kept the heat up
with an early Destroyer with Nebb Charr in his system, and he missed
two or three activations of the Insurrection because he couldn't keep
his Commands up. He destroyed two of my Mining Facilities, as well as
inflicting piercing damage on my ships as they rolled out of my
Homeworld. I had Spies of my own, though, and managed to blow up his
Orbital Space Station as well as shank Rupert Einstein with Josidynn
Prosidius after i'd made her an Assassin.

In the end, his slowdown didn't show up fast enough, and despite some
very clever "attack and retreat" tactics (burning up his Commands), he
was unable to hold me off. I rolled into his Homeworld around Turn 8
with 6 or 7 ships to his Mercenary Destroyer. I didn't even bother
trying to blow up Jupiter. I hate that planet. Always asking me to
use up all my power...

Nav won very quickly, getting up in Craig's grill with Destroyers and
Mercenary Fighters, and not letting Craig explore very much at all. I
think he even took three planets from Craig and revealed Military Vise
for the maximum style points.

Eric 2-0
Nav 1-1
Jessie 1-1
Craig 0-2
Tournament organizers don't win prizes, so we made Nav and Jessie's
game the one for all the marbles.

Round 3:
Jessie (Human Insurrection) vs. Nav (Muero Multiple Choices) FINAL
Eric (Muero Support) vs. Craig (Human Explore/Fight)

I played a game against Craig. My Muero are sort of classically
dumb-- they have good strategies against the Space Tarts (Dysori) and
other Muero, but don't know quite how to deal with the subtleties of
Human Tech gain decks. Is he packing three Secrets of the Ancients?
Should i go after his homeworlds? Is he going to go Science Ship
nutty? Lurk on the outside of his Star System (or worse yet, mine)
with vaguely threatening Fighter Scouts and then drop a ton of
Planets? Too many options!

In the end, I just wasn't aggressive enough. I blew up Craig's planet
at D, taking a chance that he couldn't drop two ships and finish my
early Destroyer. But i chased down a few of his ships and blew them
up, and then blew up his Ruins of Pellaponia (after he triple-explored
with Kain Richards, an Arch Student, and a Fighter Scout for SIX Tech
gain). This left my fleet scattered all over the galaxy. Craig
Tech'd to 30 (i'd even cancelled his Discovered Technology with Only
Fools Roll the Bones!), but i swooped in to destroy his Homeworld. I
won the game, but Craig won the moral victory-- his deck would surely
have pasted me if he'd built something just slightly more tuned. I
don't remember which Advantage he used, but he was lamenting not
playing Advanced Technology, which would have given him the win the
turn before, or Exploration Efficiency, which might have as well.

Nav and Jessie traded ships, and Jessie even got off the Tactical Bomb
at Nav's 2-production planet, blowing it up. But Nav's steady flow of
ships and Tech gain were too much for Jessie's bold spies, and Nav
launched a gigantic attack directly into Jessie's Homeworld. Perhaps
after Spycraft becomes a dead game, Jessie's Human will ride again.

Nav is the KublaCon Master of the Firestorm, and the Muero win again.
Maybe it's time to stop packing all that Space Tart hate...

All the players were generously rewarded for their time and effort--
two booster boxes apiece, plus one more for the winner, Nav. Third
World hooked them up with a pile of the beautiful Flying Tricycle
Firestorm counters (Power/Resources, Damage, and commands) as well as
demo decks featuring the promo-only Third World. Finally, the
KublaCon staff dropped by and gave us some Firestorm starter boxes.

I had a great time, and i hope Jessie, Craig, and Nav did, too. I'd
love to see a decklist, Nav, and i'll see what i can do about getting
it on Third World's website.

Hopefully, all their new toys will go right into new decks, and we'll
see them (and more) next year. I understand that Joe "King of the
Space Tarts" went camping or something with his own space tart, so
perhaps he'll turn bold next year and give Nav a run for his money.
Erik "Queen of the Space Tarts" B. might need to make an appearance,
or Darren, who craves Vegetable Head victory.

Special thanks to KublaCon for being the best convention ever, Jan
Malina for giving me a place to crash, and Mike Nickoloff and Vince
Wong of Third World for hooking us up with great prize support and
convention time.

I received my copy of BotB: Encore of the weekend and it looks =
fantastic! The "star points" on the dice are extremely cool and the =
new, sturdier box will suffer my game bag a lot better. =20

The way you reverse printed the back of the "Me" cards makes them easier =
to find if they accidentally get shuffled in to the regular deck (great =
idea!). Also, there was plenty of room in the box for me to include by =
copy of the "Backstage Pass" expansion - thanks for that also!

Congrats on another great release!

Third World Games, Inc. (TWGI) is looking for volunteers to assist us at
Gen Con Socal. We are looking for:

One Person to run Social Play Events (2 hour events) for Battle of the
Bands, Testimony of Jacob Hollow and Portable Adventures. There are 3
events (Thu/Fri/Sat) for 2 hours each day for a total of 6 hours. You can
be taught any game beforehand by a TWGI staff member, so familiarity of
the game is ideal, but not neccessary.

One Person to run Firestorm CCG tournament (6 hour event) on Friday. You
will be allowed to play in the tournament as well. Expert rules knowledge
is required.

Various people to run demos at the TWGI booth in the exhibit hall (4 hour
shifts, at least a 12 hour commitment during the entire convention). You
can be taught any game beforehand by a TWGI staff member, so familiarity
of the game is ideal, but not neccessary.

If you wish, you can participate in multiple opportunies, but: you must be
available to work all the social plays, you cannot run the social plays
and the Firestorm tournament (as they conflict), and time allotted to
running a ticketed event will count toward your 12 hour commitment to
running demos.

All positions will garner a partial or full badge reimbursement (or monies
toward a badge you have purchased) depending on actual time worked. Other
perks include: Free copies of TWGI products, Flexibility in schedule when
possible (we will plan your shifts around your ticketed events), and
inclusion in TWGI's per diem for food expenses.

We are not paying/reembursing for hotel expenses, but we may be able to
provide crash space at a location in OC (about 25 min away).

If you are interested, please send an email to:
gencon2004@thirdworldgames.com.

Fine Print: We cannot respond to all parties interested in this
opportunities. Not all parties that respond to this post will be selected
for the above opportunities.

Breaking News!!

May 25, 2005¡V Nomad International Inc. (NDIN) announced today it has
entered into a letter of intent to provide an exclusive license to its
VoIP products with LMB Technologies Inc. for the Caribbean market which
includes Bermuda.

The terms of the letter of intent include a 20% royalty payable to
Nomad of the gross revenue generated by LMB Technologies Inc. of any sales
and other revenue generated from the license. Additional consideration
payable to Nomad includes 20% of the common stock of LMB Technologies
Inc. which will seek a public listing of its common shares in the U.S
market as soon as practicably possible.

The acquisition of the license is subject to the parties entering into
a definitive agreement and to both the due diligence and board
approvals of LMB Technologies Inc. and Nomad International Inc.

Pursuant to the proposed acquisition, on closing, LMB Technologies Inc.
would pay 20% of its common stock to Nomad International Inc. as
consideration payable for the license and would agree to pay 20% of the gross
revenues generated from any activities related to the license exclusive
to the Caribbean market.

¡§The Caribbean market is one in which our technology has the
0pp0rtunity to potentially gain market share through our ability to provide VoIP
services over dial up networks. We are please with the distribution
relationships of LMB Technologies Inc. and hope to see our products in the
Caribbean market commercially in the short term.¡", stated Jan Olivier,
CEO and Chairman of Nomad International Inc.

May 18- Nomad International Inc. (NDIN) commented today on the recent
announcement by the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications
Commission (CRTC) that they would regulate Voice Over Internet Protocol
(VoIP) service only when it is provided and used as local telephone
service.

In its decision, the CRTC determined that in an effort to build
sustainable competition in local telephone markets, the incumbent carriers
will not be permitted to price their local VoIP services below cost to
stifle competition.

"The ruling is a very positive one for Nomad in our efforts to enter
the Canadian market with our products via Internet Service Providers,
cable companies and virtual operators. The ruling permits us to enter the
market with a competitive framework," stated Jan Oliver, CEO of Nomad
International Inc.

The key to Nomad's entry into the VoIP market is the ability of its
products to 0ffer services to both broadband and dial-up customers. Though
broadband is gaining more and more acceptance and utilization
worldwide, dial-up remains the primary source of internet connectivity. In the
U.S. alone, there are over 200,000,000 users of the internet. Of the
total users in the U.S., the total number of users of broadband is only
approximately 40,000,000; (stats by the Yankee Gr0up) dial-up therefore
represents approximately 80% of the entire internet connectivity market.
The percentage of dial-up versus broadband users worldwide is even
higher.

Nomad's ability to 0ffer VoIP products to dial-up customers and service
providers not only offers significant potential for market penetration,
but also sets the Company apart from its competition in the marketplace
by offering a unique, proprietary and easily adaptable product.

About Nomad International Inc.

Company developing cost effective telecommunications through Voice over
Internet Protocol (VoIP) technologies. The Company's revolutionary VoIP
